Salon Annex Reopening
Mia Katrina Guile | Steve A. Prince
Opening to the Public October 25, 2026
Matney Gallery, Williamsburg, Virginia
Matney Gallery announces the reopening of its Salon Annex with focused presentations featuring new paintings by Mia Katrina Guile and works by Steve A. Prince, alongside a selection of contemporary painting, sculpture, and mixed media by gallery artists.
Mia Katrina Guile presents her newest paintings, continuing an exploration of memory, perception, and psychological space. Through distinctive approaches to color, composition, and atmosphere, Guile creates images in which familiar settings become places of emotional complexity. Her paintings invite sustained looking, revealing the shifting relationships between interior experience and the physical world.
Steve A. Prince, a distinguished artist and master printmaker, brings a visual language rooted in African American history, cultural memory, and collective experience. Drawing upon traditions of storytelling, music, spirituality, and communal gathering, Prince creates works that connect personal and historical experience with questions of identity, resilience, and shared responsibility.
The reopened Salon Annex also includes works by Nicole Santiago, Christopher B. Wagner, Brian Kreydatus, Elizabeth Mead, and other gallery artists, extending the presentation across diverse materials, subjects, and artistic approaches.
Presented concurrently with Awakening II, featuring Olga Tobreluts, Ivan Plusch, and Oleg Dou, the Salon Annex reflects Matney Gallery's continued commitment to sustained engagement with artists and the presentation of significant contemporary work.
Public viewing begins Sunday, October 25, 2026.
