"Lucid Dreamer" and "Living"

LINDA MITCHELL’S “LUCID DREAMER” AND HELEN LOWERY’S “LIVING”

 May 2, 2015-July 7-2015/  Extended Through July 25

In the exhibition “Lucid Dreamer,” Linda Mitchell gives rein to the subconscious and lets the stories unfold. Much like a dreamer with partial awareness and control of dreams, she orchestrates her intuitive images to create compelling visual narratives. The inner world that bubbles up gives rise to unexpected characters, elements and situations. The highly textured pieces are made with painted and photographic images, fabric, wood, glass, and found objects. They coalesce into intricate and surreal scenes, reflecting life’s emotional complexity. Exhibit features the 10 foot tall “Closet Monster”.

In the exhibition “Living”, local art teacher, Helen Lowery presents paintings that focus on childhood and motherhood:  "Through painting, I aspire to engage others through the subject of children, through the pattern of the brushwork, and through the selection of color.  I aspire to communicate movement, growth, change, transition, vibrancy, youth and newness.  I depict experiences and scenarios that anyone can identify with and reflect upon.  I look for moments that will resonate with many ideas: childhood, parenthood, womanhood, innocence, mischief, chaos, and life in or out of balance."
