March 20 would have been Linda Matney’s eightieth birthday. Gallery curator Lee Matney’s mother lost her battle with cancer in 2001. Donations will be taken in her name during the exhibition for charities supporting cancer research starting at the opening event through the remainder of 2020. As part of the Tenth Anniversary Celebration, patrons can expect an unprecedented collection of artists, music, and experiences at the Gallery starting with the Tenth Anniversary Exhibit March 21- April 11, 2020.

Some of the fine artists confirmed for this celebration include Michael K. Paxton, Michael Knud Ross, Brian Hitselberger, Art Rosenbaum, Merrilee Cleveland, Zuzka Vaclavik, John Rudel, Leigh Anne Chambers and Kristin Skees representing multiple mediums, countries, and styles.

Matney sees this event as a way to establish the Gallery as a multimedia destination for the region and hopes other artists, collectors, and enthusiasts will share feedback on the experience to help him inclusively program for the future. “I’m hoping patrons can see something new, engaging and inspiring from the recent past and help me usher in an era of new multimedia experiences that expands the Virginia art scene,” says Curator Matney.

Join the celebration! March 20 would have been Linda Matney’s eightieth birthday and the Anniversary Exhibit kicks off there. While Linda Matney lost her battle with cancer in 2001, her spirit drives the passion of the Gallery to support cancer survivors and research. The Gallery will continue taking and making donations in her name during the exhibition for charities supporting cancer research.
