About the speakers:

A Virginia native, Teddy Johnson is currently based in Baltimore, Maryland. His education includes a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art, a Master of Fine Arts from The Lamar Dodd School of Art at the University of Georgia, and two semesters of study in Cortona, Italy. His paintings play with the traditions of Western Art to explore storytelling, history, and culture. Fourteen of his paintings were exhibited at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley through January 2014. His paintingshave been featured in the Korean magazine, Art People, as well as the Urbanite, and Baltimore Style Magazine. He has had solo shows in Maryland, Virginia, Georgia, and New York City. His work has also been exhibited internationally in Italy and in Korea. Teddy has curated shows in Baltimore, Maryland and Brooklyn, New York with the Rotating History Project, which he co-founded with Heather Rounds in 2010. Their most recent partnership with the Clermont Foundation and The Virginia Department of Historic Resources, "The Clermont Forum II", debuted in Spring 2014 in Clarke County,Virginia. Teddy is an Instructor of art at Anne Arundel Community College.

Heather Rounds’ debut novel, entitled There, won Emergency Press’ International Book Award in 2011 and was published by the Press in 2013. Her poetry and short works of fiction have appeared in such places as PANK, The Baltimore Review, DecomP, Poet Lore, Blue Stem, Big Lucks and Smokelong Quarterly. She’s a co-founder of the roaming curatorial collective, The Rotating History Project, and currently lives in Baltimore.

The Rotating History Project: Through various artistic mediums, the Rotating History Project aims to draw attention to the threads running through our history, culture and environment. Our mission is to educate, promote the arts and engage the community, without compromising the integrity of our subject matter. For us, history does not begin and end on a page. It moves all around us; alive wherever we may turn our head next. It’s a tool for informing our present and future. Although our mediums are the arts, we see our target audience as the larger community, far beyond the scope of art patrons and practitioners. The Rotating History Project was founded by Baltimore based artists Heather Rounds and Teddy Johnson, who work in collaboration with a variety of individuals, specific to the themes of each event. Their first project was The Child Ballads Show in September 2010.
